A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitzr is really cool because they take the story of Hansel and Gretel and add it to some of the Grimm stories. I personally like this book because it is full of adventure, dragons, devils, kings, queens, witches, and more awesome cool stuff like that. If you like books that have easy words and don’t have a lot of pages, you will not like this book at all! This book is pretty long and has a lot of big words.
A Tale Dark and Grimm is a good book for kids who are up for adventure. This book is chock-full of adventure and more! It does contain a little of violent stuff like killing and sticking people in the underworld. I recommend this book for eight and older because if you are younger than eight or even seven, this book will probably give you really bad nightmares. Seriously, there is a page that says “Read on if you dare,” and it says to get all little kids away and don’t read the book to them because if the kid gets nightmares it’s you to blame. I think this book is great and full of adventure and survival. I think the main idea of this book is how Hansel and Gretel survive all the things they’ve gone through, such as fighting a dragon, almost being eaten by some crazy woman who lives in a candy house (which you’re probably familiar with in the original version). If you like all the things I just said, and if you’re eight and older, I hope that you’ll read this book in the school library! Rump is a fictional story by Liesl Shurtliff. It has some great writing, and it feels like you’re in the story. It takes place in an imaginary world where your name is your destiny. The story is about a young boy named Rump. He goes on an adventure to find out his real name. His mother died when he was a baby and things are getting tough.
Rump comes from a family with magic. He uses a spinning wheel to turn straw into gold! When Rump uses his magic he trades the gold with the miller who gives him food. But Rump soon finds out that magic is taking over his life! Rump’s Gran has just died, and he is surviving off magic. Along his journey, Rump meets pixies, trolls, and witches. My favorite part of Rump is when he starts spinning straw into gold. I really liked that part because Rump was really surprised when he did it. I compared myself to Rump because we are both adventurous. Rump and I both like exploring new places. I liked this book because it told me that you don’t need gold to be rich. I would recommend Rump to any readers who like the Harry Potter series. Rump reminds me of Harry (in the Harry Potter series) because they both are very brave. The lesson I learned in Rump is that to not be greedy. I hope you like reading Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstilskin! |
