Rump is a fictional story by Liesl Shurtliff. It has some great writing, and it feels like you’re in the story. It takes place in an imaginary world where your name is your destiny. The story is about a young boy named Rump. He goes on an adventure to find out his real name. His mother died when he was a baby and things are getting tough.
Rump comes from a family with magic. He uses a spinning wheel to turn straw into gold! When Rump uses his magic he trades the gold with the miller who gives him food. But Rump soon finds out that magic is taking over his life! Rump’s Gran has just died, and he is surviving off magic. Along his journey, Rump meets pixies, trolls, and witches.
My favorite part of Rump is when he starts spinning straw into gold. I really liked that part because Rump was really surprised when he did it. I compared myself to Rump because we are both adventurous. Rump and I both like exploring new places. I liked this book because it told me that you don’t need gold to be rich.
I would recommend Rump to any readers who like the Harry Potter series. Rump reminds me of Harry (in the Harry Potter series) because they both are very brave. The lesson I learned in Rump is that to not be greedy. I hope you like reading Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstilskin!
